Starch Vacuum Drum Filter
The starch vacuum drum filter is a continuous filtration device specifically designed for solid-liquid separation of starch slurry. It uses vacuum suction as the driving force to remove moisture from the starch suspension, forming filter cakes with a certain dryness. It is widely used in the production process of various starches, such as corn starch, potato starch, cassava starch and wheat starch. This equipment features large processing capacity, high degree of automation, stable operation and low moisture content of filter cakes, making it one of the key dehydration equipment in the modern starch industry.

Working Principle
Feeding: The starch slurry is evenly fed onto the filter cloth on the drum surface.
Filtration Zone: As the drum rotates slowly, its interior is connected to the vacuum system via a rotary valve. Under the effect of vacuum suction, the liquid passes through the filter cloth and enters the drum interior, then is discharged through pipes. Solid particles are retained on the filter cloth surface to form a filter cake.
Washing: In some processes, clean water can be sprayed on the filter cake surface for washing to remove impurities or soluble components.
Drying Zone: Further dehydration is continued under vacuum to reduce the moisture content of the filter cake.
Discharging: When the drum rotates to the discharging position, the filter cake is either scraped off or peeled off by compressed air, and falls into the collection device below.
Filter Cloth Cleaning: After discharging, the filter cloth is cleaned by an automatic cleaning device to prepare for the next cycle.
Application Fields
Corn Starch Production: Dehydrates the refined starch milk.
Potato Starch Production: Dehydrates the starch milk after hydrocyclone washing.
Cassava Starch Production: Dehydrates starch before the final drying process.
Wheat Starch Production: Also suitable for recovering starch from starch milk.
Its main function is to dehydrate starch milk with a moisture content of approximately 50-60% into wet starch filter cakes with a moisture content of around 35-40%.

Advantages of Starch Vacuum Drum Filter
Compared with other dehydration equipment, the vacuum drum filter has the following significant advantages in starch production.
Continuous automated operation
The production process runs non-stop with low labor intensity, and it is easy to integrate with modern automated production lines.
Large processing capacity
It is very suitable for large-scale, industrialized starch production.
Integratable washing function
It can efficiently wash the filter cake during the dehydration process to improve starch purity.
Stable and reliable operation
It has a robust structure, relatively simple maintenance, and a low failure rate.
Uniform dryness of filter cake
Due to constant vacuum dehydration, the moisture content of the obtained filter cake is stable, which is beneficial to energy saving and stability of the subsequent drying process.
Relatively energy-efficient
Compared with fully pressed equipment, its energy consumption is usually lower.
